Leonardo Hotels Central Europe’s introduction of an innovative food station shows how digital solutions can offer guests greater flexibility and provide a useful addition to personal hospitality.

Berlin, 6 August 2026. A fully automated cooking robot installed at the Leonardo Smart Vienna Airport will soon be serving up fresh salads and bowls at the touch of a button. The new food station will give access to freshly prepared dishes right around the clock, including for guests with late arrivals or early flights. This is a solution which enhances the hotel’s smart concept and brings even more flexibility.

The Leonardo Smart Vienna Airport opened in June and was specially designed to meet the needs of modern travellers. Digital amenities such as 24-hour self-check-in, open-plan lounge and work areas and a carefully considered self-service concept all help to ensure that hotel stays are as straightforward as possible. The new food station adds a further component to this approach so that guests can enjoy fresh meals regardless of their time of arrival or departure. The Leonardo Smart Vienna Airport boasts 510 rooms and is the world’s largest timber construction hotel.

Service provision is now set to be upgraded when a new 24/7 snacks and drinks market goes live in August. The hotel bar will also be staffed around the clock, even at night. The Leonardo Smart Vienna Airport is combining digital convenience with personal hospitality to create a concept which delivers maximum flexibility without compromising on individual service.

“The idea is for technology to offer our guests more flexibility, not to replace personal service. For this reason, we are combining digital solutions with genuine hospitality. Our staff will continue to be on hand to assist our guests in person, but the new food station will also now provide access to fresh food right around the clock, regardless of time of arrival or departure. This interplay perfectly defines our smart concept.” said Stephan Löwel, COO DACH Leonardo Hotels Central Europe.

The fully automated food station prepares a variety of salads and bowls on the spot in just a few minutes. Choices on offer include everything from sausage salad to Thai curry to vegetarian dishes. Daily cleaning and an integrated cold store which is restocked every day ensure that food is stored and prepared hygienically. Guests can entire process live as their meals are prepared. Cold dishes are ready to eat right away. Hot options can be heated in a microwave located in the pantry kitchen in the lobby area. Food is served on reusable tableware. The hotel is also placing its reliance in regional suppliers and short supply chains.

The centrepiece of the new food station is a fully automated cooking robot from the Hamburg-based robotics company goodBytz. For Leonardo Hotels Central Europe, however, the focus is very much on the tangible benefits that can be delivered for guests rather on the technology itself. By expanding its smart concept in this way, the Leonardo Smart Vienna Airport is showing how digital innovations can effectively complement the hotel experience and offer travellers more comfort and flexibility at all times of the day.
