Berlin, 11 September 2025. The world of NYX Hotels by Leonardo Hotels is a place where art, urban lifestyle and music fuse to create a holistic adventure. This is a lifestyle brand which offers more than merely overnight accommodation. Every NYX Hotel becomes a lively meeting point for art, culture and interaction. The common factor that may be found at all NYX Hotels is the robust integration of curated art by young local creative talents in a way which blends in with the respective architecture and environment and with the typical NYX style. The NYX Hotels lifestyle brand currently operates 20 hotels in 11 countries including Spain, Italy, Poland, the UK, Greece and Germany. Each is home to an individual and creative concept which embraces and reinterprets the spirit of the city in which it is located.
Art is very much a centrepiece rather than an add-on
An NYX Hotel represents a complete work of art, regardless of whether it is situated in Madrid, Warsaw, Rome or Berlin. International art experts such as Iris Barak (Tel Aviv), Mirko Reisser aka “DAIM” (Hamburg) or the creative platform Spazio Taverna (Rome) develop a unique design approach for their own destination. The focus is on local artists, whose works relate stories about spaces, cultures and people.
Art is in evidence in every corner of the NYX Hotel Madrid from the entrance to the roof. Samuel Salcedo’s sculpture SuperEgo welcomes everyone with a wink at the door, and Ana Beltrá has turned the inner courtyard into a green oasis. Up at the pool, hand-painted tiles by Sergio Mora tell the story of Nyx, the goddess of the night in Greek mythology. Optical illusions by E1000, mermaids by Julieta XLF and romantic vegetation by Lula Goce can also be discovered amidst all of this. Every room combines Madrid’s creative energy with the typical NYX vibe – local roots, global inspiration and full of urban joie de vivre.
The NYX Hotel Warsaw invites its guests to embark on a journey through their own imagination. Anna Barlik’s EAST / Shimmering Sunrise is inspired by science fiction and the cosmopolitan visual axes of Warsaw. From the hotel’s roof terrace, it hovers over the city like a second sun. In the interior too, every nook and cranny is given over to the expression of artistic creativity. Mariusz Waras, alias M-City, has fabricated a futuristic city landscape in the lobby. The art of Mariusz Tarkawian can be admired in many areas, such as on the staff clothing and on breakfast cups as well as in the form of impressive works placed at the entrance. The whole hotel has thus metamorphosed into a vivid artistic synthesis.
The new NYX Hotel in Rome, which opens this autumn, will become a gallery in its own right. Under the curatorial direction of Spazio Taverna, eight young artists with close links to the capital city have created place-specific works which enter into dialogue with the architecture of the building and with Rome’s multi-faceted cultural heritage. Highlights include a large-format ceramic wall installation by Kim Isul, hand-decorated columns with poems in gold leaf by Diego Miguel Mirabella and a series of LED elements by Numero Cromatico based on generative visual algorithms.
The starting point for the art concept is a wall painting by Nerone Ceccarelli, which was uncovered and repositioned during the hotel’s renovation works. This rediscovery inspired an examination of the relationship between art and space, a theme which is continued in the works carried out across the whole of the building.
NYX Hotel Hamburg – local urban art with a global spirit
The NYX Hotel Hamburg shows how street art and hospitality can be harmonised in a North German way. Large-format works curated by the graffiti icon Mirko ‘DAIM’ Reisser and created by Hamburg-based artists such as Nils Buschke, Bobbie Serrano und Moritz “Golden” Green speak of freedom and Hanseatic identity. Selfie spots in the entrance area, a colour-intensive wall relief entitled “YOU ARE HERE” and surreal poetic depictions of birds all make the hotel a vibrant venue of inspiration.
Urban culture and DJ nights – art on the move
Art at NYX Hotels does not, however, always remain on the wall. Regular DJ sets, live performances and changing exhibitions transform the hotels into cultural hubs of their respective cities. Guests enjoying aperitifs at the Pool Bar in Rome, Clash Bar beats in Hamburg or private viewings in Warsaw cease to be silent observers and become part of the scene. The concept is enhanced by City Lovers, NYX employees with local insider knowledge who bring the cultural DNA of the cities to life by passing on their personal tips on street art spots, galleries or underground clubs.
Art to take away – booklets, QR codes and souvenirs
Background information on art and artists is available to guests at all NYX Hotels in the form of digital or printed booklets, flip books or an interactive app. In Warsaw, there are stylish souvenirs such as wine labels and magnets designed by local artists.
The future: more NYX Hotels, more art, more to explore.
Leonardo Hotels is continuing to pursue a course of expansion for its lifestyle brand by launching new hotels in Rome, Berlin, Leipzig, Nicosia, Thessaloniki and Brno. These openings do not merely establish new hotels. They also bring new perspectives for art, design and cultural identity. One thing is plain. Guests who choose an NYX Hotel do not simply find a place to stay. They are able to make memories.
