Former IntercityHotel successfully integrated into the Leonardo portfolio – further rebrandings in Freiburg, Magdeburg and Erfurt scheduled before the end of 2026

Berlin, 13 August 2026. The opening of the Leonardo Nürnberg City Center has provided Leonardo Hotels Central Europe with a third presence in Nuremberg. Following its acquisition in December 2025, the former IntercityHotel was updated and aligned to the Leonardo Hotels brand whilst operations continued. The conclusion of the rebranding process means that the first of the four ex-IntercityHotels taken over by the company has now been fully transferred to the Leonardo portfolio. Conversion of the other three hotels located in Freiburg, Magdeburg and Erfurt will be completed in the third and fourth quarters of 2026.

The Leonardo Nürnberg City Center is situated in the immediate vicinity of Nuremberg’s main railway station only a few minutes’ walk from the city’s old quarter. The upgrading of its 158 rooms has focused on achieving a quiet and contemporary design which features warm and earthy natural hues, wooden elements and selected colour highlights. Soundproof windows ensure a calm atmosphere. Various seating groups, plants and colourful interior design elements placed in the public areas help to deliver a modern and lively character.

The accommodation options are complemented by a breakfast restaurant and a hotel bar. Four air-conditioned conference rooms extending over a total area of around 133 square metres and with capacity for up to 90 persons are available for meetings and events.

“With the Leonardo Nuremberg City Center, we have successfully integrated the first of the four acquired hotels into our portfolio. Nuremberg is an important destination for us, and with now three Leonardo Hotels operating in the city, we can offer our guests a diverse range of accommodation options. The modernisation of all four acquired hotels marks another step in the continued development of our portfolio in Germany,” says Yoram Biton, Managing Director of Leonardo Hotels Central Europe.
